Use folders to give you a neat library

Folders, the most basic but also indispensable traditional management tools.  The traditional folders are quite troublesome when folders are numerous or subfolders are complex. However, Eagle adds new folder features to improve user experience. Let's introduce you to the features of the Eagle folder.

Create Folders

First, let's create folders as following ways:

  • Folders + button 
  • Sidebar + button
  • ⌘ + Shift + N

After creating a folder you can name the folder, we recommend you to use the categorization or color as the folder naming direction so you can find the folder or image you need more quickly and efficiently in the future time. 

Add Images to the Folder

After creating the folder, you can add images to the folder.

  • Drag and drop images to the folder
  • Copy images and paste 
  • ⌘ + D
    If you need to add images to the same folder, you can use this function to add the image to the folder that you add to last time.  
  • Right-click images and select add to folders
    Open the select folder menu, select the folder you need. For details, please click here. 

Rename the Folder

An appropriate folder name can help find the folders or images more quickly and efficiently.

  • Double click the folder
  • Right-click the folder, select "Rename"
  • ⌘ + R

Change the Icon and Color

The different icon and color of folders help you easier to find the folder you need and have a better user experience in folder sorting.  

  • Right-click the folder and select the icon and color

Hierarchical Folder

Eagle supports hierarchical folder, you can click the left arrow of the parent folder to expand the list of subfolders. The hierarchical folder helps you to more easily organize folders and reduce the time it takes to search for folders.

Right-click the Hierarchical Button

You can right-click the hierarchical button to open the context menu. For the details of hierarchical, please refer to the introduce below: 

  • Expand/Collapse Folder
    Select "Expand/Collapse Folder" to expand/collapse this folder.
  • Expand/Collapse Same Level Folder
    Select "Expand/Collapse Same Level Folders" to expand/collapse all the same level folders.
  • Expand/Collapse All Folders
    Select "Expand/Collapse All Folders" to expand/collapse all folders.

Create Subfolders

  • Right-click the folder and select “New Subfolder”
  • Create a folder and drag it to the parent folder you want to add

Sort Folders

The neat folder arrangement not only reduces the fatigue of browsing but also increases the efficiency of searching. You can create a unique and efficient arrangement by sorting folders and customizing folder icons and colors. 

  • Drag and drop folders
  • Sort folders by title
  • Move folder
    If you have numerous folders need to move, using the “Move folder” function
    Directly click the location you want to move

Show Subfolder Content

By default, the parent folder will not display the subfolder content, but if you want to display the subfolder content in the parent folder, please follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click the parent folder, select "Show Subfolder Content"
  2. The subfolder content is displayed in the parent folder

Remove Folders

  • Right-click the image and select delete
  • Hotkey ⌘ + Delete
